Asian Home Gourmet Cantonese lemon chicken- 50g

Our Cantonese Lemon Chicken recipe is a tasty mix of crunchy chicken pieces and zingy lemon sauce, great for wowing your guests, or for a weeknight dinner. Chicken can easily be substituted for prawns, squid, or calamari, taking your dinner to the next level. Try it today!

Ingredients: Sugar, water, glucose syrup, lactose, brown sugar, pickled lemon (lemon, salt, citric acid): 5%, thickener (modified tapioca starch), acid regulator (malic acid), salt. 

Cantonese Lemon Chicken Serves 3

  • 1 packet Lemon Chicken Sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 450 g (1 lb) diced boneless chicken
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • ½ cup (125 g) cornflour
  • Cooking oil for frying
  • 3 thinly sliced lemon or lime or spring onions as garnish (optional)


  1. Coat chicken pieces with egg.  Put meat and cornflour in plastic bag.  Shake bag to coat meat evenly.
  2. Pan-fry or deep-fry until meat is cooked, set aside.
  3. Mix Sauce with water.  Pour over cooked meat and mix well.  Garnish.


Cooking tips:

(a)   Seafood (prawns or squids/calamari) or fish may be used instead of chicken. 

(b)   Suitable as a dip for chicken nuggets, crumbed fish fillets, seafood or spring rolls and also as a dressing for salad.  To make a dip or dressing, mix 1 tbsp water with a packet of Lemon Sauce.
