Hear The Rooster? Halal Chicken Is Here!

Islam is the second largest religion in the UK, and it constitutes around 6.5% of the total population. This percentile constitutes around a staggering 4 million people.

We all know Muslims are particular about their food for Halal compliance. Therefore, there is a great demand for halal meat in the UK.

Everyone knows the term, but do they know the essence behind it - guess not.

Halal is an Arabic term that means “permitted”. In the religious context, it means the action or behaviour permitted by Islam that includes what types of meat and methods of preparing these meats are allowed.

For example, a halal animal (lamb, chicken, cow, etc) will only be considered Halal if it is slaughtered according to the Islamic ritual called Zabihah.

To further understand the concept, let us dive into the demand for halal chicken in the poultry industry.

How Is a Chicken Deemed Halal?

The poultry industry is a thriving business worldwide, and so the demand for halal chicken provides a great business opportunity.

But for a company to be certified Halal, it must first certify its slaughterhouse as Halal by the Islamic association of that country, the UK for instance.

The requirements a slaughterhouse must meet are:

  • Before slaughtering each bird, Tasmiyah “Bismillahi- AllahuAkbar” must be recited.
  • The neck must be cut in a single blow with a sharp knife to minimise the pain.
  • The blood must be allowed to drain completely from the body.
  • An inspector must be present to monitor the whole halal zabiha process.

We here at SaveCo are proud to be one of the first Halal-certified meat shops in Bradford, UK.

    Different Cuts For Different Cuisines

Usually, meat shops provide 2 basic cuts in their poultry section, but we here at SaveCo have raised the bar high by providing a variety of different cuts for different cuisines.

    Chicken Breast - Medium Cut

This cut is suitable for various gravy dishes like Butter Chicken, Chicken Ginger, and even for grilling Malai Boti and Tikka Boti.

    Chicken Breast - Small Cut

Suitable for a variety of pasta, BBQ rice, Singaporean rice, Khao suey, etc

    Chicken Drumsticks (Skin on/off)

Kids adore drumsticks, you can just marinate them and fry and the kids will enjoy a meal without tantrums.

    Chicken Niblets

Niblets are part of the wing attached to the breast piece of the chicken. Cutting and preparing niblets is not a piece of cake, but our professional butchers take pride in carefully cutting and preparing niblets to perfection.

You can make a variety of dishes with niblets, such as spicy BBQ chicken niblets, Korean sweet niblets, spice niblets, crispy baked chicken niblets, etc.

    Chicken Mince Meat

Chicken mince is a great alternative to the usual beef mince that we use in desi households.

It is not only a much healthier option but is super quick to cook as well. You can use chicken mince in making meatballs, lasagne, samosas, and kebabs.

    Organic Chicken

The awareness regarding healthy chicken reared with a healthy diet in better conditions is becoming prevalent.

Since people are becoming aware of the importance of chicken rearing for nutritional value, they look for vendors who can offer them such meat.

The basic difference between a regular chicken is that the organic chicken is low in fats due to which it has slightly lower calories than the regular ones.

On the other hand, organic chicken is more expensive than the regular ones as regular chickens are reared within 35 days whereas organic chicken requires around 81 days to be fully grown.

But the difference in taste is genuine. Organic chicken is more flavourful and has a deep texture in its meat.

Therefore, we at SaveCo, proudly stock our halal organic chicken for our esteemed customers.

    Wrap Up

The quest to acquire Halal food is mandatory for all Muslims. Living in a non-Islamic country it sometimes becomes a challenge to find Halal food.

Therefore, we here at SaveCo have taken it upon ourselves to make sure that this quest to find Halal food becomes easier for the UK's Muslim community and our nationwide delivery service is just a small step in this direction.
