3 Recipes to Make The Best Halal Steak

On Thursday evening, I found myself passing by a famous steak house on my way back home. It reminded me of strolling past TGIF last weekend in Leeds.

I kid you not, my whole mouth watered up with the aroma of beef steak being seared with garlicky butter.

I was too tempted to go inside and order myself a garlic butter beef steak. The only thing that kept me out of the restaurant was that they don't offer halal steak, how very unfortunate.

I came back home craving a good, delicious, and sizzling steak.

The meat tendered to melt in the mouth, with a slice of cheese on the top, sided with mashed potatoes and caramelised onions.

I can still feel the flavour in my mouth as I recall the experience.

The freedom to barge into any restaurant whilst in Pakistan, without thinking if they are halal or not was surely a blessing.

To date, I have struggled to find a place that offers halal steaks in my vicinity.

To overcome my cravings for steaks at home, I have tried multiple recipes over the period.

Today, I will share the three best recipes so that you can enjoy your very own HALAL steaks at home.

Juiciest Beef Steak

The key to juicy steak is to cook it frozen!

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 (1/2 pound) frozen Delmonico (rib-eye) steak
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon meat tenderiser
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • salt and black pepper - to taste

How to Make the Juiciest Beef Steak

  1. Preheat the oven's broiler.
  2. Spread half quantity of butter on the top of the frozen steak.
  3. Similarly, drizzle half the quantity of the Worcestershire sauce, meat tenderiser, garlic, salt, and pepper on top of the butter. Leave the remaining half quantities for later.
  4. Place steak on a roasting pan.
  5. Time to broil the steak in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes. Remove the steak from the oven and flip it; spread the remaining butter, Worcestershire sauce, meat tenderiser, garlic, salt, and pepper on the top layer.
  6. Return to the broiler, and continue cooking for 6 to 8 minutes, or to desired tendency.

Filipino Beef Steak

This is the easiest steak to make at home. Thin beef slices are rich in lemony flavour with some spark of soy sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds strip of steak (sliced thinly)
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • salt and pepper - to taste
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped

How To Cook Filipino Beef Steak

  1. Place sliced beef in a large bowl. Mix soy sauce, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
  2. Pour the concoction over the beef and toss to coat. Stir in cornstarch. Cover and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight (If you have time on hands).
  3. Heat the oil in the skillet on low to medium heat.
  4. Remove beef slices from the marinade. Shake the slices to remove any excess liquid. Discard marinade.
  5. Fry beef slices in hot oil. I recommend working in batches.
  6. Remember to fry the slices for two to four minutes. A classic indication is the slices will look firm, reddish-pink, and juicy in the centre. Transfer beef slices to a serving platter.
  7. Now heat some olive oil in a small skillet on medium heat. Stir onion and garlic in oil until they turn golden brown. Spoon the fried onions and garlic over the beef slices.

Garlic Butter Steak Bites

The best part of this recipe is that it comes together in more or less thirty minutes.

Ingredients:

  • ½ tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 pounds of steak (bite-size pieces)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter or ghee
  • 6 cloves minced garlic
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • green onion, for garnish

How to Make Garlic Butter Steak Bites

  1. In a large bowl, add all the seasoning (salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes) over steak bites and stir until well-coated.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the avocado oil and the steak in a single layer.
  3. Cook the steak until brown, stirring occasionally.
  4. Once the steak turns brown, remove it from the pan.
  5. Remove excess water from the skillet and add butter to the pan. Next, add the garlic and sauté for a minute.
  6. Add the steak back to the pan and cook for two minutes. Keep stirring to coat it in the butter sauce evenly.
  7. Move the steak to a serving platter and sprinkle some chopped parsley.
  8. Garnish with green onion and serve immediately. I can be served alongside sautéed veggies or mashed potatoes
