Have you ever wondered why the burgers you have at popular fast-food joints taste so amazing?
But when you try to recreate them at home they end up tasting bland and tasteless!!
The basic reason for your burger to turn out tasteless or bland is mainly because it hasn't been seasoned properly. I have unlocked some amazing all-purpose burger seasoning that makes the world of difference.
Yes, seasoning plays a major role in bringing out the flavours of your beef burger. And by that, I do not mean overseasoning the burger patty in ginger garlic, and tons of other spices.
In fact, the minimal the spices the better the taste of the beef will be.
I was guilty of making the above-mentioned types of burgers and I had completely given up on trying to make beef burgers at home.
Until I accidentally came across this recipe on the internet. Believe it or not, this seasoning recipe is so fail-proof that I’ve tried it with various types of burgers and the patty always stands out.
Are you ready to be the maker of the best burgers in town?
What Goes Into A Burger Seasoning?
With just a few spices and seasonings combined, you can prepare this all-purpose burger seasoning and store it in an airtight jar for later use as well.
You will require:
- Smoked Paprika - 2 tbsp, adds a touch of sweet and smoky flavour
- Kosher Salt - 2 tsp, the large grains bring out the natural flavour of the meat
- Dried Oregano - 2 tsp, the notes of mint and lemon in it add an earthy flavour to the seasoning.
- Onion Powder - 2 tsp, adds a slightly sweet taste of onion flavour to the seasoning.
- Ground Black Pepper - 1 tsp, kicks in a mildly spicy flavour.
- Garlic Powder - 1½ tsp, imparts a rich garlic flavour to the seasoning.
- Cayenne Pepper (optional) - ½ tsp, adds a spicy touch for spice lovers.
How To Prepare All-Purpose Burger Seasoning?
Preparing your all-purpose burger seasoning can be the easiest task in the kitchen. Simply add all the ingredients in an airtight jar, cover the lid, and shake well.
All the ingredients will combine. Use your required amount and keep the rest of the seasoning for later use.
When To Season Your Burgers?
If you are preparing your burgers in the broiler or the oven then it is best to mix your seasoning in the ground meat before making the patty.
However, if you are grilling or pan-frying your burgers it is recommended that you sprinkle the seasoning once the patty is formed.
Sprinkle one side of the patty with around ¼ tsp of the seasoning and place that side face down on the pan or griller.
Season the side facing upwards and then flip, it usually takes around 3-4 mins per side.
Variations You Can Create Using This Seasoning
The best thing about this seasoning blend is that you can create numerous burgers with slight variations. Just a little tweak here and there.
- Mediterranean Burgers - you can use this seasoning for chicken burgers as well. Just replace smoked paprika with the regular one. You can also add some rosemary, lemon zest, and dried thyme.
- BBQ Burger - just add some brown sugar and mustard powder in the same seasoning.
- Southwestern Burger - omit the paprika powder from the seasoning and replace it with chipotle powder, chilli powder, ground cumin, and lime zest.
- Mushroom Burgers - just add some powdered shiitake mushrooms with this seasoning, and you will have a mouth-watering mushroom burger ready.
